Car Rental Terms

The Rental Terms and Conditions listed below apply to all of Greece: Mainland and Island. By renting your car from Guru Rent a Car, you unconditionally accept the following terms.

Rental period

The minimum rental period is 24 hours, with a permissible delay limit of 1 hour. Additional delays are charged as an additional day.

Driver age and driving license

The minimum age is 23 years & maximum 70 years. The driver's license must have been issued 1 year before the rental date. In case the driver is not a resident of the European Union, he is obliged to bring an international diploma in order to be able to drive legally in Greece.

Pick up and return of vehicle

Deliveries / Returns of vehicles to the offices of Guru Rent a Car in Ioannina, as well as at the airport of Ioannina, are free of charge.
Deliveries / Returns of vehicles to another location in Ioannina, in addition to the above, will be charged an additional 15 €.
Distances longer than 40km from the offices of Guru Rent a Car, can be arranged upon request with an additional charge of 0.50 € / km. (minimum charge 35 €).

Insurance & Liability amounts

Third party security: Provides death coverage & third party injury up to € 1,000,000 and third party material damage up to € 1,000,000.

Basic accident insurance (CDW): Limits the amount of damage liability from 930.00 euros to 1,860.00 euros depending on the vehicle category. Damage to the bottom, rims, trays, tires, mirrors, antenna, crystals and interior are not covered.

Complete accident insurance (FDW): This insurance is available as an option at an additional cost per day. Significantly eliminates or reduces the amount of liability for damage to the car. The amounts are reduced to € 0.00 from € 930.00, to € 248.00 from € 1,302.00 or € 558.00 from € 1,860.00, always depending on the vehicle category. Damage to the bottom, rims, trays and tires are not covered.

Theft insurrance (TW): Theft insurance is included in the reservation. Limits the amount of liability for theft or damage from attempted theft, from € 930.00 to € 1,860.00 depending on the vehicle category. The tenant is not covered, in case of theft of all or part of the car, caused by his negligence (eg in case he left the car unlocked or left the key on the start switch).

Personal accident insurance (PAI): Personal insurance is available at an additional cost per day. Provides coverage to the driver of up to € 15,000 for death, total or partial disability and coverage of € 1,000.00 for medical expenses.

NO insurance coverage applies:

when transporting the vehicle by ship
if the driver is found to be under the influence of alcohol or drugs
for damage caused by driving on unpaved roads
for bottom damage, wheels, trays, tires, mirrors, antenna, crystals and interior
for loss of personal belongings inside the vehicle
for accidents caused by a driver not stated in the lease
for loss or destruction of the vehicle key
for the loss or destruction of GPS Navi devices, child seats, snow chains or other special equipment

The cost of damage or loss of the car is paid even if the tenant is covered by his credit card or a third party insurance service. In this case, the tenant is obliged to pay the full cost of repairing or replacing the car, which he will then claim from his credit card or other insurance company.

IN CASE OF AN ACCIDENT, THE CUSTOMER IS OBLIGATORY, IRRESPECTIVE OF HIS FAULT, TO COMPLETE THE ACCIDENT DECLARATION, UNDER ARTICLE 70 OF GREEK LEGISLATION.

Credit Card and Guarantee Information

ACCEPTABLE TYPE: American Express, MasterCard, Visa. Debit cards are not accepted.

On your credit card, an amount of 930.00 to 1,860.00 EUR (depending on the vehicle category) will be committed for the duration of the rental. This amount is a guarantee in case of damage / theft of the vehicle. This amount is released automatically if there is no theft or damage during the rental.

UNACCEPTABLE METHOD: Prepaid cards and cash are not accepted as a guarantee.

You must present a valid credit card in the name of the main driver at the rental office in order to pre-authorize the deposit. The credit card should be embossed and a PIN number may be required. If you do not show a valid credit card, your credit card does not have the required amount of money, or the credit card does not belong to the principal driver, the rental office may refuse to give you the car. In these cases, the refund does not apply.

Additional Driver

In every car rental, only the declared driver is covered by the above insurances. In case other drivers are going to drive the rented vehicle, they will have to declare in the lease agreement at the beginning of the rental. Required documents are a police ID card or passport and a valid driving license. Additional driver service is charged per day.

Additional facilities

Child seats, snow chains and GPS Navi systems are available on request for a daily fee. They must be mentioned in the reservation.

Fuel policy

Fuel is calculated in eighths. The vehicle must be returned with the same amount of fuel delivered. Otherwise there are charges of € 12 plus the cost of missing fuel. No money is returned or set off for extra fuel in the tank.

Transport by ship

Declared upon receipt of the vehicle. A written license of Guru Rent a Car is required with an additional cost of 25 € per route.

Prohibitions

Driving outside the Greek borders, driving on dirt roads, transporting heavy objects and in general misuse are prohibited. Charges up to 98 € are valid for special cleaning on vehicles that will be returned with excessively dirty interior (eg stains from food, coffee, etc.) indicating misuse.

Administrative expenses

In case of accident or damage to the vehicle, there is a non-refundable charge of € 62.00.

Traffic violations

The tenant assumes full responsibility for any traffic violations and is obliged to repay any debts to the relevant services. Otherwise the amount of the violation will be charged plus the amount referred to as "Administrative Expenses".

Payment Methods & Secure Transactions

The rent can be paid in one of the following ways:

via credit, debit and prepaid cards of Visa, Mastercard, Maestro, American Express, Diners.
using the Masterpass e-wallet.

Regardless of the payment method, a credit card (Visa, Master Card) is required for guarantee purposes. The rental office will freeze the amount of liability for damage until the end of the rental.

Cancellation of reservation

In case of cancellation up to 15 days before the departure date, the full prepaid amount will be refunded. For cancellations within 15 days before departure, Guru Rent a Car will refund the amount, deducting the cost corresponding to one (1) day of rental.

Contract

Upon receipt of the vehicle, a corresponding lease agreement is signed containing the above terms and conditions.
